Luxembourg publishes new guide to ‘plain language’ in Luxembourgish

On 16 June 2026, the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture and the Zenter fir d’Lëtzebuerger Sprooch (ZLS) launched a new booklet entitled ‘Liicht Sprooch Lëtzebuergesch’. The 64-page document sets out, for the first time, rules and recommendations for accessible, easy-to-understand communication in Luxembourgish.

A tool for public authorities

The booklet is aimed primarily at local authorities, ministries and other public bodies. It is designed to help them formulate information in such a way that it is understandable to as wide an audience as possible. Culture Minister Eric Thill emphasised that language is a key to access to information and social participation, and that the new booklet lays the foundations for greater equality of opportunity.
