OSAPS publishes its Guide for Plain Language Writing
The guide is intended to help banking service providers – but not only them – to comply with legal requirements, more specifically to ‘ensure that the information is understandable and does not exceed a complexity level of B2’.
Apart from the requirement for a limited vocabulary, the law does not prescribe any specific rules for text creation. This document therefore provides a voluntary framework for writing texts in clear language.
The guide contains recommendations for overcoming the main obstacles to readability and comprehensibility, tips for internal training, a simple procedure for user testing, examples of layout and a checklist for proofreading.
And, of course, the guide itself meets all the criteria it recommends!
The guide is currently only available in French.
