Obligations

The main obligations are as follows:

  • Compliance with accessibility requirements: economic operators must ensure that their products and services meet the accessibility requirements set out in Annex I to Directive (EU) 2019/882. (see section ‘Requirements’)
  • Availability of technical documentation: manufacturers must draw up technical documentation demonstrating the conformity of their products with the accessibility requirements and keep it for a specified period of time.
  • Declaration of conformity and CE marking: products must bear the CE marking and a declaration of conformity must be drawn up and made available, confirming that the product complies with the applicable legislation.
  • Corrective measures: if a product or service does not comply, the operator must take corrective measures and inform the competent authorities.
  • Provision of information: operators must ensure that information relating to the use of the product or service, including instructions and safety information, is available in accessible formats.

  • Obligations of authorized representatives: Articles 9, 10, 13, and 14
  • Obligations of importers: Articles 11, 13, and 14
  • Obligations of distributors: Articles 12, 13, and 14
