Importer

The obligations of the manufacturer and its authorised representative are detailed in article 11 of the law.

Summary of obligations

Obligations of importers

  • Verify products: Ensure that products comply with EAA rules before selling them in the EU.
  • Document compliance: Ensure that products have the appropriate documentation and CE marking.
  • Monitor products: Keep an eye on imported products to ensure they remain accessible.
  • Provide information: Indicate their name and contact details on the product or its packaging.

An importer is considered a manufacturer and is subject to the obligations incumbent on the manufacturer when they place a product on the market under their own name or brand or modify a product already placed on the market in such a way that compliance with the requirements of this law may be compromised.
